Polar Bear Plunge 2015: Ghost Busters Edition

It's winter, so that means it's time for our annual Polar Bear Plunge to benefit the NJ Special Olympics. This year, we opted to take part in the Seaside Heights plunge.

By the numbers:
  •  There were over 6,000 people who took the plunge
  • 25,000 spectators
  • Over $1.7 MILLION dollars raised for this amazing cause.
  • Air temperature was a toasty warm 26 degrees
  •  Water temperature was 33 degrees

I was joined by Janine and Brian from travelrunlive.com and my husband. We all brought some food and drinks, and tailgated inside of the truck. Unlike Wildwood, where everyone parks in the convention center parking lot, parking in Seaside is much harder to come by, and often requires you to hand over $15-$20 per car.

We decided to go with the Ghost Busters theme this year, and it was a HUGE hit! I somehow convinced my never-does-anything-fun husband to dress up in an inflatable Stay Puft Marshmallow Man costume, and it was the biggest hit of the plunge. The rest of us were in matching Ghost Buster costumes, and I'll just let the photos and video speak for itself.

The "after" photo-we survived!

The video is pretty hilarious. Note my husband floating face down in the ocean, me falling, and all of them leaving me LOL! Every time I tried to stand, a wave would knock me back down. So I ended up COMPLETELY soaked!

As always, it was a good time. If you're considering doing it next year and have questions, feel free to leave them in the comment below!
