Wine + Bike Riding = A good idea!

My good friend Janine from over at www.travelrunlive.com made an AMAZING discovery today that I wanted to share. Normally, I would just stick something like this under my YOLO section of cool stuff to do, but I think that this warrants a special mention.

She stumbled across something Pour & Pedal. What is that you ask? It's winery hopping on a bike. Why didn't we think of this! This idea is pure genius.

If you aren't cool enough to be from Jersey {because I know that you wish that you were}, then you're out of luck. Currently, they're offering these tours Ringoes, New Egypt, Hamptons, and North Fork. We're waiting to confirm our schedules, and will be booking {hopefully} into a New Egypt tour for this summer.

Each tour is between 10-16 miles of easy biking, and visits two different wineries. The New Egypt tour that we want to do visits one of my favorite NJ wineries, the Cream Ridge Winery! They have some amazing wines-I'm a cranberry fanatic and they have a cranberry wine that's one of my all time favorites.

Pour & Pedal provides hybrid bicycles and helmets at no extra charge. Each bike has a built in basket-perfect for carrying your wine! {NOTE: I'm going to need a bigger basket!}You are allowed to bring along your own bike and helmet if you choose.

 The description from their website:
The terrain is relatively flat with a few rolling hills. Tour guides may stop periodically to point out historical facts or points of interest - pay attention, some of our trivia is based on what you learn along the way! Depending on the location, we may visit a local farm or shops in the area. At the first winery, be prepared to receive the full experience as you tour through the sprawling acres of vineyards, the tank room, and the barrel cellar. Our guides will share their knowledge of the wine making process and will be happy to answer any questions you have. What tour isn’t complete without a wine tasting? Let the pouring begin!

Sample different wines to see if you have what it takes to become a wine connoisseur. Enjoy some snacks, while taking in the scenery with friends and loved ones. Afterwards, we pedal to the next winery to sample more authentic local wines and indulge in a gourmet picnic lunch. Don’t be surprised if the owners extend an invite for an exclusive barrel tasting or even a bike ride through their vineyard!

I can only imagine what kind of disaster I'll be that day trying to ride a bike after guzzling a bottle or three of wine. They totally had me at wine. I'll be sure to update everyone on the experience-I absolutely can't wait! Each tour is $125-all inclusive. Until Next Time,
